We don't usually plan around topics as this enables us to spend more time to follow the interests of the children. So, if there is anything that you think would be of interest that your child has been doing at home please let the key person know. However for term 4 of 2020/2021, starting 4th January 2021 we will focus on 'colours' as we have noticed a number of children are not sure about their colours.
So this is what we will focus on:
From week commencing:-
4th January - Red
11th January - Blue
18th January - Yellow
25th January - Green
1st February - Purple
8th February - Orange
We will always have our continuous provision in the setting for the enjoyment of the children.
The setting provides a range of activities on a continuous provision basis. This enables the children to experience a wide range of activities without needing to ask. The children can help themselves to boxes, shelves and baskets to do what they wish. It is through this that we hope to provide a wish to explore and independent play.
These areas include:
- Small world
- Water play
- Role play
- Mark making
- Junk modelling
- Dressing up
- Malleable play
- Finding out/natural resources
- Sand play
These resources are available in both rooms and the outside area. We actively encourage the children to move between all the areas to explore and play.
Adult led activities are planned around the children’s interests that are observed and from information from parents.
We will celebrate some of the festivals in our calendar during the year and any other festivals that may be suggested by parents. If at any time a parent would like to come in and share some of their traditions and customs, they would be very welcome.
We follow the areas of learning under the Early Years Foundation Stage as follows:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Understanding the World
- Expressive art and design
These areas are covered in most areas of play and please note that the end of the foundation stage is not until the end of Reception at school.
We aim to help the children to be sociable, independent, happy and inquisitive.
If you have any questions please ask at any time the staff.
